University of Tennessee-Knoxville Law School

The Volunteer State is home to many top law schools. In the eastern part of the state, the University of Tennessee makes its home in the Tennessee Valley at Knoxville. The University of Tennessee's College of Law makes its home on this campus. This law school started providing legal education in 1890. Today, the school boasts a comprehensive law program that makes it one of the best in the nation. The school embraces modern technology with a center built in the late 1990s with the latest in technology updates. This public school attracts many students from the Southeast to its beautiful campus.

The University of Tennessee's College of Law offers the traditional Juris Doctor program with two available concentrations in Business Transactions as well as Advocacy/Dispute Resolution. Students take classes in the core of the law then choose electives to round out their curriculum. The library associated with the College of Law contains over 570,000 volumes for student use. The College also offers dual degree opportunities in conjunction with the other departments on the Knoxville Campus. These include degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration.

If you want to enter the University of Tennessee's College of Law, prepare at least a year ahead to have the best chances. You should submit your academic transcripts to provide the College with your GPA and class load. You need to complete an application and provide a personal essay along with personal recommendations from professors and other professional contacts. You also need to submit your LSAT scores. The Law School Admission Test provides a standard test score used by almost all law schools in the US to evaluate potential students. A good LSAT will give you a better chance of gaining admission to UT's College of Law.

When the admissions office of the University of Tennessee's College of Law receives your application, they will go through a couple of stages to determine eligibility. GPA and LSAT scores help them screen out candidates that do not meet minimum qualifications. After that initial screening, the personal essay and recommendations play a big part along with academic performance and class load. At that point, they can determine if you are a good candidate.
